This report reviews terror-related cases to illustrate the importance of striking a balance between national security considerations and the importance of protecting fundamental rights. It highlights the need for developing and implementing effective mechanisms for addressing the root causes of radicalisation, in order to prevent its violent manifestations. It has been developed within the initiative FAIRNESS: Implementation of the Stockholm’s Roadmap in Cases of Terrorism and Radicalisation.
