Analysis of the Policy Context Addressing 25+ NEETs

Country Report – Bulgaria

Young people aged 25-29 who are neither in employment nor in education and training (25+ NEETs) are a youth group which is regularly neglected in Bulgarian social policy. This generation started their working life shortly after the economic crisis of 2008. Faced with uncertainty and lack of security for work and well-being, these young people are more likely to be inactive or in precarious jobs. The study aims to contribute to the successful integration of 25+ NEETs into the labour market through increasing knowledge on relevant employment initiatives that have been implemented in Bulgaria.

The analysis in the report considers national- and regional-level policies in the areas of education and qualification, employment and entrepreneurship, work-life reconciliation, health and social insurance, and social security and taxation, among others.

The Lost Millennials project is funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA and Norway Grants Fund for Youth Employment.
