I was fortunate enough to be part of CSD’s internship program – in the Sociological Program – as part of my Master’s degree. Under the guidance of Lily Yakova I learnt a lot about the project development process of international research collaborations as well as the development of project proposals for funding. I worked on a variety of different topics that reflected the diversity of the field. I delved into current societal issues of radicalisation and gender and the steady rise of emotional tools in politics all over Europe.
Due to my background in international politics, I also felt that my competencies and academic interests were accommodated well throughout my internship. I can wholeheartedly endorse CSD’s internship program to anyone wanting experience in a meaningful public policy think tank, as you are given good opportunities to learn and develop your academic skills and research competencies, while getting crucial hands-on experience. I will bring the knowledge accumulated here with me in my future endeavours for sure.
Additionally, exploring topics outside of my own speciality have given me an informative insight and helped shape the topic of my Master's thesis. So, many thanks to Lily, Vicky and the rest of the team for an amazing and accommodating internship experience!
