Master’s degree in European Affairs, specializing in Social Policy and Social Innovation, Sciences Po Paris, France
As a student in European Аffairs specializing in social policies, joining the Sociological Program at the Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD) was an enriching experience in my European journey. There were several reasons for this choice, starting with my attraction to the region of Southeast Europe. Since my bachelor's degree specialization in Central and Eastern Europe, I wanted to continue deepening my knowledge of this area.
Accompanied in each of my tasks not only by my supervisor but also by the other members of the team, I discovered the world of academic research, which I had previously known only from a student's perspective. Among my responsibilities, I reviewed existing literature on emotions in politics and their connections to populism, political polarization, disinformation, and its impact on vulnerable and marginalized groups. I also enjoyed researching co-creation processes, focusing on how to integrate civil society and other stakeholders into policy discussions. Finally, I deepened my understanding of the Western Balkans by studying the developments of ethnonationalism and its religious connections.
I can only recommend an experience at the CSD. Trainees are integrated and given a warm, professional welcome. The Center's team takes care to introduce us to the life of a leading European think tank in the Bulgarian and European public arena through conferences, workshops, social events, and informal discussions.
