Norah Smith

B.S.Eng. in Environmental Engineering, Princeton University

Period of internship: Jun 01 - Jul 28, 2023

During my internship at the CSD Energy and Climate Program, I was fortunate to be immersed in a stimulating and supportive work environment. The atmosphere was friendly and filled with competent individuals who made me feel comfortable, fostering both my professional and personal growth. Throughout the two months of my internship, I had the valuable opportunity to learn under the expert guidance of Martin Vladimirov and Kostantsa Rangelova. My tasks involved researching various topics, comparing findings, assisting in creating a policy brief and best practices compendium, gathering background data, taking notes, and providing support for event organization.

This internship was an exceptional learning experience, as it allowed me to gain insights into the different stages of project management, apply my existing knowledge and skills, and acquire new ones. I felt a sense of gratitude as my work contributed to making a difference, and I appreciated the flexible and welcoming environment of the CSD. Additionally, I had the opportunity to collaborate with David Sandson, a Fulbright scholar, in assisting with data collection and digital analysis for the disinformation program. This expanded my exposure to different areas and added further value to my internship.

One of the most memorable aspects of my internship was the chance to explore Bulgaria and Eastern Europe, regions I had never visited before. The exposure to Bulgarian culture and language during my travels was a unique and unforgettable experience that will stay with me for years to come. Overall, I am incredibly grateful for this enriching internship and the significant impact it had on both my personal and professional development.
