Biography
John Bussey is a Senior Associate Fellow with the Center for the Study of Democracy. He is also is assistant managing editor and executive business editor of The Wall Street Journal and writes a weekly column on global business trends for the paper. His previous positions with the Journal include reporter in the Chicago, Cleveland and Detroit bureaus; features editor on the Page One staff; Tokyo bureau chief; economics editor; foreign editor; editor-in-chief of the Far Eastern Economic Review and The Wall Street Journal Asia-based in Hong Kong; deputy managing editor; and Washington bureau chief.
His staff won three Pulitzer Prizes and six Overseas Press Club awards for international coverage. Bussey contributed to a package of articles on the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks that also received the Pulitzer Prize. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a regular commentator on television and radio. Bussey is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Dartmouth College.
