Biography
Dr. Anja Sivakova-Kolb is a Senior Associate Fellow with the Center for the Study of Democracy’s Energy and Climate Program. Prior to joining CSD, she worked for Forschungszentrum Jülich, Deutsche Enegieagentur, and Forschungszentrum Umwelt at Freie Universität Berlin, as well as for several companies in the fields of energy technology and sustainable solutions. She has also held positions at universities in both Germany and Bulgaria.
Dr. Sivakova-Kolb’s primary areas of interest are energy policy and regulation, energy transition, energy security, investment climate, sustainable strategies, and foreign policy. Dr. Sivakova-Kolb has extensive regional experience in these fields in Central and Eastern Europe as well as North Asia. Dr. Sivakova-Kolb received her PhD in Political Sciences in 2015 from Freie Universität Berlin with her thesis, “Approaches toward a sustainable energy policy in the Russian Federation”, which describes the policy shift towards renewable energy sources in Russia between 1998 and 2013.
