Radicalisation in prison is a complex security challenge which requires a multifaceted prevention approach. It is important that those working within correctional services are aware of this phenomenon and trained to recognise and deal with its multiple manifestations.

On 21 December 2020, CSD held an online train-the-trainer course on countering radicalisation in prison. The course was aimed at professionals within the penitentiary system and was conducted in cooperation with the General Directorate “Execution of Sentences”, Ministry of Justice, Bulgaria and experts of the Ministry of Justice, Italy. The course provided an overview of the application of novel technologies, including virtual reality simulations in professional training and reviewed innovative investigation strategies in the field of digital forensics.
