The Draft Amendments to the Bulgarian Criminal Procedure Code, adopted at an extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers on 7 December 2019, aim to introduce a mechanism for investigation and other procedural actions against the Prosecutor General and his/her deputies through the proposed new figure of a prosecutor heading the Inspectorate of the Prosecutor's Office. The opinion, drawn by the Law Program of the Center for the Study of Democracy and the Bulgarian Institute for Legal Initiatives, contains a number of comments on the draft and was submitted to the Committee on Legal Affairs of the 44th National Assembly (text only in Bulgarian).
